I had a perfecto glass top for a 5.5 gal tank. I cut the plastic portion on the back so I could add an AC mini hob. Now I am planning on running a sponge filter and I could do without the gaping hole I cut for the hob. Any ideas on what I could do to close the hole?

So far the only place I've seen the plastic for sale is in the US. This would be way more trouble than it is worth for me to import this stuff. I could go for function over form and just use a CD cover or something. and then cover everything with construction paper or some such.

The CD cover sounds good...or if you have any old VCR tape cases?

I was at the LFS today and it turns out that they sometimes have the part but there was none in stock at this time. I came up with a workable interim solution though. I had a piece of picture frame plastic (the stuff they can use instead of glass) and just cut it size to fit the space between the edge of the plastic and the tank frame. The piece I cut now just slides into place once the glass hood has been put in position. It may be a bit of a pain to reposition it every time I take off the hood but for now it is a workable solution. Thanks all for your suggestions.

My lfs sells it by the foot, i could send you some maybe is you want. It's like 2.50 a foot. I just bought some myself today.

I would just ask my LFS to order sone for me. You would only need about 6 inches for the AquaClear space to be covered up. The piece of plasice frame would be troublesome, because I have a hood that you can't buy he replacements for so I use a piece of Bio Fibre from my old Aqua Tech filter. I am constantly dropping it behind my aquarium and having to reach for it, which is a hasle.
