I stopped by my local PetSmart today and one of the employees told me they were getting new "Electric Green GloTetras" in the next few weeks. I had to look them up once I got home and discovered they are also produced by the GloFish company.. They look to be genetically altered White Skirt Tetras. Unfortunately, the website does not offer any information on them whatsoever.. Has anyone come across these in their LFS and possibly have more info? Pretty interesting.

They look dyed to me...I've seen them draw hearts and all this weird crap on "painted" mollies before. Disgusting. Those fish are probably unhealthy as all get out.

Yes. Saw these the other day in a Petco. Same genetic coloring as the GloFish zebra danios. They're not injected with needles or anything like that. Petco guy claimed they'd be much hardier than the glofish danios.

Yep, genetically altered. I'm not sure how I feel about them. I absolutely will not buy dyed or tattooed fish (absolutely cruel) but don't get the same gut reaction with these. Heck, a good portion of our worlds food supply is genetically altered (corn, soybeans etc. Farming supports my family so I understand it a bit more). I won't and don't support the blood parrots, for the simply reason of actually having watched these mutants suffer, but these are not the same.
I say if you like them and have no moral objection to them, go for it. Genetic mutations have been around in a lot of things for a long while, more than most people realize. I guarantee that each one of us eats something genetically altered every day...even with an organic diet.

Just saw some of these tonight at All Pets in Wallingford, CT.
Looked kinda sad to me. The eyes make them look blind, but not sure.

If they're done the same way as the danio's they shouldn't be blind. I'd never buy any tattoo or dye injected fish, genetically modified I'd maybe consider but current choices dont interest me not paying $7 for a 99 cent danio who's great great grandparents were modified.
