has anyone grown this stuff before? i got it at my LFS and it came with this spounge attached to it at the bottom they said just to burry the whole thing, any reccomendations of how to take car of this stuff?

oh and its kinda bucnhed up does it need to be spread out to get light or something?

actualy i looked at it and the plant is grown right into this black spounge so theres no way to get the roots out of it. will this be a problem?

Take the glosso out of the pot and separate the individual nodes where the roots are growing out of. Using tweesers, plant the nodes a centimeter or 2 apart and they will grow in.

I hope you have alot of light, glosso is a high light plant.

i just edited the post above and the roots are stuck into this foam pot thing.

my setup is as follows

5 gallon tank
23 watts CF light
using flourish comprehensive supplement
flourish excel
no Co2 setup
regualr sand bottom

also how does this stuff reproduce?

break the foam or rockwool apart and extract the plants.

Glosso sends runners from the plant node which will form their own node. Given bright light, yours should be enough, it grows very fast.

You have the micro nutrients and CO2 covered with Flourish and Flourish Excel, you may need to get the macro nutrients covered as well (nitrogen, phosphate, potassium). Seachem also sells these.

Keep it managed!!!!!
It will definitely grow in the environment you offer and depending on fish load, you may need to dose some light macros.
But glosso has a tendency to grow too well!! If left to it's own devices it will start to grow over on itself and shade/choke itself out over time if not managed and pruned.
You need to keep up with it.....keep it manicured and it will show beautifully.:)
Each leaf set is a separate plant. For best results and coverage, carefully cut the leaf sets apart and plant each with a tweezers. This requires patience and practice (some cussing may be involved during the process) but the result is worth the effort.

i tryed to take it out of this pack but its in there so good i keep ripping the roots.
so i just burried the whole thing and spread it as best as i could

or do they regrow roots easy? if i was to take it out of the pot thing but rip alot of the roots will the plant be okay? what is the better way to go?

If separation is that much of a problem, I suggest planting the plug and waiting for strings of plant runners to come off the plug. It's not the ideal way, but will work.

okay but is it a big deal if they lose some of their roots? like if i just plant them with smaller roots will they be okay
i kinda got it apart but i think i lost some roots in the process
this is what they look like as of now

See those long stems on the glosso, with the leaves and even roots growing out of points in them? those aren't really stems but are runners, and each point where the leaves grow from are the nodes. You'll want to cut the runners to separate the nodes and plant them individually. The large mass you have right now will run into the problem djlen pointed out, where light won't reach the bottom leaves and they'll start to die out.

Losing some of the roots isn't a big problem as long as the nodes and leaves aren't damaged.
