So my friend just got some new aquarium plants (fake) and apparently some of them separated from the base...is there a type of glue she can use that is safe in the aquarium?

Yep. And there are clear varieties available, at any hardware store.

why dont you just take them back and exchange them?

We bought aquarium-safe silicone at Wal Mart in the pet department. Works like a charm.....just be sure to let it cure overnight! I even siliconed three little terra cotta pots together to make a cave system, and the fish use it all the time.

You know, I just had the same problem but what I did was to heat a screwdriver tip up (or whatever) and melt/mushroom out the top of the base (after putting the leaf on of course) so the leaf couldn't come off. Six of one, half dozen of the other I suppose. No glue my way though and you can put it in the tank immediatly. Not that that's important.:sim:
