i searched and couldnt find anything on this so feel free to direct me towards the thread of this has been covered.

i want to glue some slate rocks together to make some larger structures in my mbuna tank, ive seen and read about it done before but am not sure what glue has been used. it would have to be able to hold rocks together and be safe for the fish....would epoxy work?

Thanks for any advice or answers

kinda aimed more towards this flate slate style....GLUE?

yeah i was actually planning to cover the visible glue spots with sand/crushed coral...so i should get some "Reef" epoxy or any old kind from the hardware store if the color isnt an issue?

Plain old 100% silicone works just as well :) Just make sure to give it extra long cure time since the silicone will most likely be thicker than what is usually applied to aquarium seams. Cure it until no vinegar smell is present.

I use GE silicone I. Just do NOT get any silicone that contains mold/mildew inhibitors, i.e., GE Silicone II.

Mighty putty works well for coral frags, and I've used it to stabilize live rock.

i used marine putty because it's an expoxy that is safe, 15 minute use & cure times and I was able to glue new cured live rock right in the tank. worked great!
good luck!

If you take a tube of mighty putty and a tube of Aquarium Systems Holdfast you will find them to be identical in all respects. Except price that is. Mighty putty is less than half the cost.
