I recently bought two gold algae eaters. one of them is doing great and seems to be growing, but the other seems to be getting skinnier and now he has dark patches, like bruises all over. I'm thingking that whatever the scientists do to that breed to make them that color sometimes wears off, but I'm still worried about his skininess. The other algae eater chases him sometimes, so I put a divider in the tank to separate them. Any suggestions as to what is wrong?

I have an opposite one... I bought a CAE and it turned golden as it got larger. I seem to have lucked out with this one. It is over four inches now and very mellow. Actually it seems scared of the tetras in my sisters tetra tank. She was being inundated by algae so I moved in this fellow out of my 55 gallon plant tank. It has done a fine job of keeping it clean by the way. I've read a lot of conflicting reports on this fish species. Some of them seem okay and some not.
