also what is it that they are doing when they root through the plants in the tank. they have already killed one plant. they don't look like they are eating the pond snails but knocking them off the glass and the plants and like they are looking for something good to eat on the plants, just wondering if the plants have some kind of food or something on them.

i was under the impression that dojos are okay with tropicals as long as they're not kept too warm. why do you say they shouldn't be?

i've been told that dojos eat snails, but have seen no real proof.

your dojo will be fine kept with tropical fish, just not with ones that require a really high temp..... i'm not sure if they eat snails..they might just be playing with them, which is what they are doing to the plant...they won't really eat it, just knock it over, rip it's roots and mess up the leaves...sad if you worry about your plants, but lots of fun entertainement for the loaches
