you can identify the differnt L number nuggets based on the spots, L177 has much larger spots then the others, and L18 is the juvinile form of L85 apparently and L81 is supposidly the smaller species. Also check out their catfish of the month article since it gives a side by side of each L number. what i have been finding though is very few shops have the correct L numbers and many of them are widely diverse in the claims. Live Aquaria for instance, I have found their pleco list to be absolutly useless as far as statistics, and their text is cut and paste. I would never buy a pleco without an actual picture of the speciman and then cross referncing it to make sure its what is advertised.
