Gold Oscars - new variant?

This is the first I've seen but I supposed its possible...Looks similar to a red oscar, I guess it wouldn't be too hard to selectively breed them.

I'd think anything is possible...including a greyish blue Oscar if anyone took the time...We got Tiger Oscars cause someone selectively bred Wild Oscars for the redish color...Red Oscars were selectively bred from that.

Wild Oscars (the ones I've seen pics of) have a light blue/green greyish color to them...just selectively breed for it.

Haven't seen them before but they look nice. It doesnt look like its dyed (just my opinion). But a bit expensive :)

i had some at work almost identical looking but a lil more bronzish but not by much, and they were 6.99 like all the others...just selective breeding and overpricing to me

Just a red pattern oscar but the red is more of a bronze red instead of an orange red.

Jeff Rapps has this variant for sale. Also an awesome pic on his website tangledupinchiclids.com. I have seen an adult in my local LFS once. I wasn't incredibly inpressed. Looked more like a faded red oscar to me.

nice yellow oscar as well.

and they (the site) have a HUGE selection of plecos and pirhanas
