My small fantail goldfish seems to act strangely( I think it's strange anyway) He/She generally stays at the top of the tank only coming down for a short time then swimming right back up. She also doesn't really swim horizontally, her body is on an angle usually. She eats fine, her tank is well aerated and the parameters are fine. Is this normal or is something wrong?

It isn't like she can't right erself or anything she can stay at the bottom but she rarely does because she's always sniffing around at the top....could it be she is expecting food?
Sure. Goldfish are natural beggars. There could also be something about the flow of current there that the fish likes. They are also very curious. Sometimes, when I have the lights on, mine will go to the top to "lightbathe," but not for too long. A healthy goldfish will occupy all levels of the tank at some point-- some are lazier than others, but even my bubble eye, who can barely get off the bottom, often checks out the area near the filter b/c she enjoys the gentle water flow.
He does go in his sunken ship hideout every now and then but I guess it could be about the current because he is always on the side by the filter when he is at the top.
Where are the lights? Are they directly above or off to the side? Goldfish will swim tilted towards the strongest light.
Above but they aren't on all day because my room is very bright and he still does it even when they're off.
