Goldfish being attacked

I have four goldfish, 1 larger than the rest as he's been around longer than the others. All live in a 56 gallon tank. In the last few weeks he has been hiding inside the castle at various times throughout the day but was also seen outside of the tank. Within the last few days the other 3 have been 'attacking' the large one (black telescope). They chase him around the tank and appear to be picking (sucking) at him and end up cornering him in the bottom of the tank so he can't move. Since they've never done that before i figured he might be sick in some sense and they're picking on the weakest one. I moved him to a separate tank to destress him from the attacks. I see no worms on him, no scale loss. I did notice today that there is a white bump at the anus however. I have been feeding him peas since his poop has been clear and may be constipated.

Any idea what is wrong with him, if anything? Can anyone explain why all of a sudden the other fish are picking on this one? I'd love to put him back in the tank but when I do they just corner him again and it stresses him out.

Please advise.

Sometimes when fish are underfed, or not fed the proper balance, they will eat the slime coat off another fish. What are you feeding that tank?

Or possibly they may just be picking on one fish. Re-aranging tank decor can reduce agression, but some fish are just going to be more hostile than others.

Rearranging dose help, it gives them something else to think about.....:)

Thanks. I will try that and see if it distracts them enough.

I feed them green flakes, orange flakes, and pellets. Not the same day but switch between them every few days.

So there's nothing to worry about regarding his white butt? Just constipated?

I've read that sometimes the Ryukins can be very aggressive towards other goldfish, especially ones that have been naturally modified in some way (such as telescope eyes, bubbles eyes, etc) to be a little slower and less able to defend themselves.
what are the green/orange flakes? Hikari, top fin, Tetramin, etc?
Try tossing a slice of orange, zucchini or a bunch of peas in there, it will probably distract them a bit and give them something to do over the course of several hours.
I also agree with rearranging the decor, could help a bit.

Omega One veggie flakes and goldfish flakes, and TetraExotic sinking pellets.

Well I rearranged the tank and threw some peas and orange slice in. Kept them entertained for a little bit and then they pinned him down again. Guess he'll have to stay in the other tank. Strange that this just started happening though and there is no noticeable problem with him. :-(

Thanks for the input.
