Goldfish Fans: What's Your Favorite Type of Goldie?

Jill-O

All American Girl (all grown up)
I thought it would be fun to hear from other goldfish fans as to what their favorite variety is and why.

My favorite type of goldfish are Ryukins. To my eyes, they look refined and I think their arched backs remind me of the arched necks we want in our show horses.

My husband's favorite type are orandas. He likes the orange and black ones (though we know most will turn all orange) and the red cap ones the best. He thinks they're cute.

How about you all? What are your favorite types of goldfish and why?

i love common goldfish, not comets, just a beautiful common, preferably with lovely markings- boring i know :p: in fancies, i think orandas, but i dont like big wens, i just love the way they have such lovely sweet round faces.

I love comets and commons, I used to have 2 really beautiful comets but sadly had to give them away. Now I only have commons, but i really like them too - especially those with deep colors.

if we are talking about fancy goldfish than I think I would have to say orandas or veiltails - tho I don't like orandas with too much of a wen...I also like some new breeds that are being developed in Japan, like jyokko aizu and such...

the breeds i really don't like are bubble eyes, celestials and telescopes...they just look too creepy to me because of their eyes - but I know some think they are beautiful and after all beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I used to not like any fancy goldies at all but have now got used to their looks and kinda of like them.
Tho I like the non fancy varieties best - just my preference...

My current favorites are the orandas. I think that they are cute and there are so many great colors to choose from. I inherited a blue oranda from my parents and chose to get a bright orange oranda as his new buddy. :)

Common, Comets, Shubunkins, Fantails & Ryukins.
I don't like the more 'unnatural' fish, they make me sad. Plus, I would be paranoid about what's in the tank and if I needed to move them, I would hurt them or something.

Broadtail or veil anything, with broadtail ryukins being my favorite. Love the same look in everything from telescopes to phoenix tails. As far as the long bodied strains go, it'd have to be jyokko or bristol shubunkins.

ok, new all time favourite...jyokko :omg: i bet itl be years before they get to the uk, they are stunning!!!

This is totally off topic, but as a fellow horse enthusiast, I had to check out your farm page. Absolutely gorgeous horses! So nice to see a miniature horse breeder with horses that TRULY look like their larger counterparts. =) I had a miniature horse once, he was my first horse.
