My girlfriend and I recently acquired an interesting fancy goldfish. It has the "natural" coloration, a bronze-olive color. It has longer fins, like any other fancy goldfish, and a split tail like in fantails and orandas. It has regular eyes instead of telescope, and no visible signs of a "hood." The strangest feature is it's mouth. Instead of having the "lips" which most other goldfish use to pick up rocks, it has none. The mouth seems almost downward-turned. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, but does this sound familiar to anyone?

He/she acts perfectly normal, and is maybe 3" to 3 1/2" from nose to the end of tail. So it's healthy. Weird face/mouth though.

lol. does it have a little "whisker" at each corner of its mouth?

lol sounds like a carp.

A case of fin & mouth-rot can eat away at the "lips" of goldfish. If it was treated correctly he could recover and live for a very long time. I have one longfinned comet that had mouth-rot when I got her from the feeder tank. I treated her in antifungals and antibacterials and she healed up fine. She's 7 years old now and 12" long. She has a funny shaped mouth and a scar on the top of her caudal fin from the episode.

As for the type of fish it sounds like a classic fantail.

Pictures!
