I shipped Saturday, via priority mail (2-3 days). They were going to FL from NH I got them there before noon which is the cut off time for the truck or so I was told. It's Tuesday and my mom still has not got her fish. I was sending them to her because she has an outdoor pond and spoils her fish. I knew they would have a great home with her. Well needless to say I am praying they are ok and alive once they finally do surface. Track and confirm is no help it hasn't been updated since Saturday and when you call they tell you the same crap the website says.

Done rambling down to question
Do you think the goldfish will be ok? They've been in the box since 10am Saturday they are in seperate bags, breather bags, the box is insulated, no heat pack I stuffed packing peanuts all around them so they don't move around too much. I stopped feeding 2 days before sending. I am worried about them either overheating or starving to death. Can someone ease my worries? :help:

They will not starve. Fish can go weeks without food. I knw people that go away for two or three weeks on holiday without anyone feeding them and they are fine.

Don't worry! I'm sure your fishies will arrive at your Mum's safe and sound :)

It sounds like you packed them well, and since you fasted them for two days and they're in breather bags, it seems the water quality shouldn't get too bad. I think you did everything you possibly could to prepare them for the possibility of delayed shipping. I think they'll be okay. Fingers crossed!

Alright I feel a little better. Yeah I read all I could, asked plenty of questions, even fed them some duckweed LOL before sending them because I read it helps w/their swimbladders. This is the first time I've ever shipped fish (and it probably cost more then they are worth $$ wise but the joy I know they'd bring my mom is priceless)

I read of a lady keeping a goldfish for over a week in the bag from the LFS so I am sure it wasn't a breather bag...to my knowledge it lived. I guess I am just worried because I have no idea where they are, how long they've been wherever they are etc. My mom is pretty excited too and it would kill me if they showed up DOA or sat in the baking sun due to some jerk working for our USPS. *Fingers crossed for a happy ending*

They arrived today. The Koi was DOA. $%^&*#$ USPS and they said insurance wouldn't have mattered because I can't claim live animals. WTF? I am so upset I feel like I sent him to his death trap. :swear::swear:

At least I know the two that lived will have a great home. :thm:

So sorry to hear about all the worry and that one was lost.

I wouldn't have shipped them on Saturday being that the USPS doesn't process on Sunday. Most people that ship here seem to do so at the very beginning of the week.

the post office still shuffles packages and sorts on Sunday, it just doesn't deliver I thought. I know often when I ship to the west coast on a monday it does not arrive until Thursday, but if I ship on a Saturday it arrives on Monday, go figure

You're right, Rachel. I thought the same thing Beezer did, until I started receiving packages on Mondays that had been sent the Saturday before. There's no mail delivery and Post Offices are closed on Sunday... but packages already in transit continue along their merry way.
