Heres the deal.. & its not good.

Had my 4 lovely fishies in a 55g tank, found a nasty drip coming from the bottom corner, the drip got bigger so I had to move them into a 3.5g tank!! 4 of them!! We have no money whatsoever to throw at them till next Friday & the old 29g tank isn't ready for them & it wont be ready for at least a week! :help:  They have been in the tiny weeny tank for 2/3 days & are looking very sorry for themselves & are hiding away, looking like they are gonna croak at any moment. I got up this morning & the black moor & the orange oranda have faded tails & sort of little slimy looking patches on their fins  The red cap is slowing down & Lily the wispy fish *not sure what she is still* are ok for now but I don't like it one bit. I borrowed enough money from my mum today to buy some finrot meds & i've put it in but the filter in the tiny tank has carbon & zeolite filters so its not gonna work!! They are still eating *I haven't fed them as much as its such a small space* & still swoop about the tank whilst being fed.

I feel like such a cruel wicked person for having to put them through this. I know it can't be helped but I still feel so horrible having to watch them going downhill so fast!

Any suggestions at all that could possibly help - having no money & no test kits! till next Friday..

Life & what it throws at me sux right now :(

how many water changes are you doind?you should de about 50% or more a daily, replace it with aged water,I have goldfish in a large bucket, youcould try that.

Yeah we've been doing the water every day... Would putting them in a bucket be alright without any filteration or light?

if you have a filter of any kind in the 3gal put it in the bucket, thats what I did.plus do alot of WC's a day.

Ok thanks, i'll do it A.S.A.P. I've prepared the kids as much as poss that their pets could be gone in the morning but so far they've survived. Do you suggest I put the finrot meds in the bucket with them?

if the bucket holds more water than the tank then go for it. light doesn't matter, might be better to keep the room dim so they don't get freaked out by the stark white nothingness of the bucket. i'd put the lid on it too, not tight, just kinda sitting on top loosely so that it's harder if they try to jump out. still change the water daily.

beware though if that bucket was used to mop floors or any other household chore. It'd be best to use a bucket that had never been used for cleaning, except of it was used for water changes only.

Don't know what anyone else thinks, maybe a bad idea, but assuming you know roughly where the leak is comming from could you not buy/borrow some bath sealant or the like...slap it in the general area, give it 24 hours to cure then at least half fill the tank.
this'll reduce the water pressure on the leak area and still give the fish the same surface area.
