I have two jack dempseys (1 ") at present in a 96 litre jewel aquarium and would like to add a catfisf or two to the setup, has anyone any suggestions.I know the tank is possibly on the small side for when they get bigger ,but it should do for a while cheers

Move them soon. JDs grow pretty fast. I would suggest moving them into a 75g with your choice of two of these:

Striped or spotted raphael catfish
brown hoplo catfish
medium pleco species (I like Panaque nigrolineatus)

You could probably also get away with almost any other species that grows to between 6" and 12", but I would go with those listed above because their armor will protect them in case the JDs get nasty. BTW, start praying now that your JDs will not try to kill each other when they get a bit bigger (more space and clearly defined territory borders will help).

I agree with the Stripped or Spotted Raphael's however they will hide during the day so if you want something a little more active then I would suggest a Featherfin Catfish (synodontis eupterus) I also keep one of these with my JD, GT and Oscar and they never bother him.

Hi mudfrog ,bloke at my LFS reccomended a feather cat,he said "They dont take no crap from the jacks and can look after their selfs" he also said a plec will just hide all day if picked on.

Yep.. the feathfin cat can be territorial as well, they can be aggressive when they want to. They make a great clean up crew as well.
