I was researching some fish and found the below disclaimer...

"Additional Comments
Painted versions of the Gold Skirt are available, but Petsmart does not carry these fish due to the methods of injecting the dye into the fish."

here is the original link.

I think thats great, especially since very often large faceless corporations only care about the bottom line and since they are more likely to be a location on an impulse buy.

I'm definitely happy to see this. Since I imagine that those dyed fish are popular with customers who don't know how unhealthy it is for the fish, it's good that they've chosen to put ethics ahead of profit on this issue.
Since most of the time stores only hear from customers if the customer has a complaint, I'd like to suggest that all of us send an email or letter to them to let them know that we appreciate their stance on this issue. :)

i also think that its good that the major comapnies are staying away from dyed fish.

unforunately, it is the small chain or singly owned stores that often turn to dyed fish. they think that they are popular, and unfortunately they are. the "vibrant" colors of the fish is what attracts the people to buy them. in smaller chains like Petland, i have seen the dyed fish stoking come to a slow stop, except for some bronze corydoras that looked like they may have been injected with some gold dye down their spine (it acctually looked pretty natural to me, as it was a bit hard to tell the dyed fish from the normal fish). the last time i was there i did not see any of them thankfully.

LOL I was wondering the same thing. It's very good to hear PetSmart is taking a lead in this; mayhaps it will spread.
