Hi all. I would love to get into the marine aquarium hobby. I currently am a freshwater owner. I was wondering if anyone knows of any really good beginners guides that I could purchase on amazon or at the bookstore?

Nick Darkin's "The Marine Aquarium" is quite informative. ISBN 1-902389-67-0

Aim to get a few books to compare the information they give.

Good luck if you do go saltwater.

I have read that this is "The Best" out there:

That book is recommended often. It's written by Bob Fenner. You can read a Q&A site where he answers some of the questions, and he definitely knows his stuff.

Oops- wanted to add, the site is wetwebmedia:

http://www.wetwebmedia.com/

They have many articles and answer questions on a daily basis.

Saltwater is not hard- in my opinion you just need a lot of patience, knowledge and dedication.

Just my opinion, but i would just get the Fenner book...

From the research I have done, the fenner book is fantastic but does lack in some areas that the Paletta book makes up for. As for the Tolluck book, it is very current, by a very reputable author and is a very beginner friendly book. I am a firm believer on doing as much research as possible from as many different sources as possible. I'm sure I will go through 10 books before I actually begin this endeavor.
