I'm looking into types of pleco's for my new 80g, what do people suggest??
I don't want one that gets too big and I like ones with the vail like fins. They will have to be able to take low 80 temps. 83-84 tops!! It gets hot here in Houston!!
Thanks!! :thm:

Bristle-nosed or Clown should be fine

I have a bristle nose right now in my other tank, I was hoping for something a little more exotic. Something with a sailfin maybe, I've been looking around, but I want some suggestions from people too. There are just so many to choose from I wanted to hear people's personal picks, Thanks!!

Sailfins, Commons, Rhinos and Royals really should be given a home of around 180g or larger...They really get to be large fish...An 80 would be fine temporarily but if you want to be a responsible owner you should try to get a suitable home down the road....

Yeah not looking for one that gets too large either, don't want him too uproot all my plants when he swims around. Are there any plecos that have the sailfin(or larger fins) that stay smaller?? Thanks for the help!! :thm:

I have something that was sold to me as a leapord pleco, he's even smaller than my bristle nosed or chocolate pleco. Personally I like the ones that stay smaller.

Adonis Pleco!!! They are GORGEOUS! Mine has grown pretty big, but most of its length is in the tail, since it has those REALLY long extensions. But look at dropping more $$$ than average on it.

An Adonis will get way to big for an 80gal tank, They can get to about 2".

Queen Arabesque Pleco (L260). They sell them around here, a little pricy but not totally outrageous. They grow to about 4 inches.

Queen's are a very nice pleco. She is a little on the shy side, but does come out every once in a while. Here is a pic of mine.

If you can't find a Queen in your area, The L066 king tiger pleco is very similar in size and color.

The L333 also is very similar to both the King Tiger and Queen.

A Gold Nugget L081 would be a nice size colorful pleco for your tank.

If you can find one a L014 sunshine pleco could possibly work to. They get to around 12".

There are plenty of plecos that would fit in your tank. Look through planetcatfish Cat-elog and see which ones you like.
