I was plesently suprised the other night when I was in the Roseville, MI Walmart. I was just doing some shopping, and like all good fish owners I HAD to check out the fish there. While I was watching the fish in the tank I was overhearing a Walmart associate tell a customer that, "no if you have oscars in that 55 gallon you can't have any other fish. If you want to have more fish, I'd return the Oscars and get some less aggresive fish!!

I was suprised at the comment there, as in all my experiences at Walmart in the past, they didn't seem to know anything at all.

So my kudos go to the walmart fish staff there.

Matt

Kudos to him! And never mind the fact that you've never heard a comment like that from a Walmart employee... I've never heard that comment from ANY lfs employee, ever!!!

maybe their store keeps knowledgable associates in that area or maybe it was just lucky he happened to be the closest employee. I rarely get the same person to help me when I go to the local wal-mart. they would have a much better reputation if they just kept someone on hand that knew what was what. Kyle

No, I've been to the Roseville Wal-Mart... and yes, they are very great with their fish. Will I ever buy a fish from them? No - because it's Wal-Mart. However, Macromatt is correct in that they do take good care of their fish, considering it is a Wal-Mart. :)

This statement applies to much more than just their fish/pet department. Ever try asking any of their electronics department people a computer question? lol

Well the things aren't cheap because they are hiring knowledgeable, educated people. Things are cheap because they can hire people who haven't even finished high school. No offense if anyone here works at Wal-Mart... I'm not calling anyone stupid, but I will say that 95% of the Wal-Mart employees I have personally come across seem like they've been daydreaming all day. That alone would keep me from ever working at one of those stores... no matter how desperate I was. I feel bad for the ethical, hard working employees because, unfortunately, they all have a bad rap.

I do the same thing!

I prefer not to comment on the WalMart (made in China SuperStore...), employees. It would not be good, not good at all -- concerning the "fish area".
