Got a beautiful betta today that has pink fins with blue trimming :headbang2:

Its my first betta ever and i was hoping to get any tips i may need!

Got him in one of those 5 gallon bow fronted acrylic tanks, with the purple plastic hood and base (my former quarantine tank until i realized it was waaaay too small for my needs- so betta time!)

I did some basic research, i know he needs standard water params, 7.0ph, 78-80 deg F, got the pellets for him to eat...anything else? Thanks!

Sounds like you're doing fine so far. Is it filtered? If not, you'll have to do 100% water changes about once a week.

Mine loves blood worms.

I put a mirror up to the glass for a little bit each day, so he can threaten to break bad on himself.

Ya, mine loves the mirror thing also! Other than that though, they are pretty easy, beautiful and fun fish to keep! Enjoy :)

Yea i got the little wisper filter that came with the get-up.

Bloodworms? I just so happened to buy some today for my other tank! the dry kind.

Im excited about this! cant wait to get some super cute decor that matches his fins...right now have odds and ends in there.

ya, When I clean my tank I put my betta in the thing he came in and feed him the bloodworms!!! I have 2 males and 1 female

Yea i kept the thing he came in too...thought it would be useful bc im moving in a few days. I know its the first day, but hes very restless and swimming around like a maniac. and hes having a hard time around the filter...getting all tossed about. maybe he just needs to work on his bouyancy since hes been in that little cup for so long

Mine loves Frozen bloodworms and Hikari betta pellets. He also loves the live plants I have in my tank, he swims around them and burrows underneath the Baby tears.

I have 8 Betta's here at work, hehe, yes I love my Betta's! The biggest thing to remember, and I'm sure you know is that you can't put any other Betta's with him. But they do good with other types of fish though, platy's, guppies, mollies etc. Anouther thing about them is to keep a lid on, they will jump! KT, do have pic's of your planted tanks? I would love to see them. I just started on planted tanks. I have a 10g, heavyily planted and a 55g semi planted.

if your pH is 7.0 out of the tap, that's great. if it isn't, however, no need to fiddle with it. bettas are very adaptable.

Woot!! Bettas! I feed my 2 males freeze dried bloodworms. They hate filters. I tried planting a tiny little java fern plantlet, not growing fast, but definatly alive.

I wouldn't feed pellets. I've never seen a betta who likes them. At Wal-Mart, there's about 50 pellets at the bottom of the betta cups, and they still starve.

Didn't know I was lucky to have that either :D. Am I also lucky that I have no chlorine in my water?
