The larva will usually need to start at full strength saltwater and work there way to brackish and eventually back to fresh. If I'm remembering correctly anyway. Huge PITA and you need multiple tanks dedicated to breeding them for different stages in their development.

well that seems like a bit to much work i already got enough projects on the go and i really shouldn't start another (at least not quite yet although i do have the tanks for it) oh well i guess i will just have to wait untill my lfs can get some ghost or cherries (they can breed in fresh water right????)

Cherries do for sure, I've got a ton of them breeding like crazy. I believe ghosts do as well, but i think that depends as there are several species that are often classified as ghost shrimp. The most common does I think.

i heard that amanos can breed in fresh water and survive??? i know that the rudolf shrimp is definatly a no but they can in brackish. So can amano shrimp live and breed in brackish??? And will my plants live in brackish???? i have watersprite java moss and fern, anubians i think (left hand side in the pick on page 1 if u can see it) amazon sword, and some onion plant. If so maybe i can start a brackish tank, never had one yet maybe it will help me learn for my future salt water.
