Ok, so my flame dwarf gourami is creating a bubble nest :help2: i have 2 females and 1 male in a community tank.

here is the youtube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVxFAEkHN4I if you would like to have a good look, and yes, this little fella has ripped apart all my plants :angryfire:

what do i need to look out for.. does that mean the female is pregnant? or is he just doing it just incase?

Cheers,
Dan

1) The female must be "conditioned" (well fed and have roe---They do not get pregnant).

2) Males do this to entice females.

3) Need to sperate the female if she is not ready or the male will kill her.

Yep, pretty much what tanker said.

The female's belly will be nice and plump almost looking like she swallowed a small marble when she's ready.

The best signs that they have spawned are: male guarding bubblenest and chasing female away, female's belly not so round, and tiny eggs in the bubble nest. You'll probably need a magnifying glass to see them. It's best to remove the female post spawn. The male will guard and protect the fry and likely kill her if he sees her hanging around.
