gouramis are territorial against other male gouramis so unless your tank has enough space, chances are its not going to stop.

will two male dwarf gouramis fight? i thought i read somewhere that they were more peaceful than regular gouramis.

Yes, more often than not, two male dwarves will aslo fight. As mentioned they are territorial. Sometimes it depends on their personality, but yes, most will fight.

I also do not foresee your problem stopping, renaldz, unless you remove the gouramis to their own tanks. Generally, male gouramis do not get along (of course, there are some exceptions, but they are just that - exceptions).

I agree with everyone else. One other thing to know is that a bigger gourami will always chase the smaller gourami's. I have a 2.5 inch blue gourami, a 1 inch pink kisser, and 1.25 inch blue paradise gourami. My blue gourami is always chasing the other two but they seem to get along fine.

Two male DWARF gouramis may fight, depending. My two have been doing ok together, in a 29 gal. Other fish in the tank with them are 6 neons, and 4 cories. I have seen people say that their dwarf gouramis fight each other, and get horribly picked on by their larger cousings. I guess, like in most things, YMMV.

Dwarf gouramis are *more* peaceful than their regular sized cousins, but not totally peacefull. (From research, not from experience. I've never had a non-dwarf gourami.) My two males will chase each other occasionally, but hide together when the big pink five headed monster comes after em. (My hand) They hang out together alot, then sometimes chase each other. For now it seems they chase each other because they think they are supposed to, but not because they want to. No damage has been done, and often one will try to chase the other, but will get ignored. Then they go down and look for something to eat. (and pick at my plants!)

Does anyone know where I could get female dwarf gouramis? They are hard to find, as they aren't as "pretty" as the males.

as for ordering female gouramis:
http://www.****************/ takes special orders for females- and usually they are no additional cost. haven't had too much experience with them, but they're quite selective about the fish they are willing to ship, putting priority on the quality of life of the fish versus profit. Good for them- that's more than I can say about some stores/sites I've been to.

I'm still new to the hobby but I love gouramis. They are my favourite fish so far. I have two blue paradise, and two blue three-spots. Before I put the blue three-spots in, the blue paradise would constantly chase each other. If you have more gouramis in the tank, they are less aggressive. The other thing is, when there's a newcomer, he has to stake his territory, so whenever you're introducing a fish to the tank, make sure they are large enough to fend for themselves, because other gouramis aren't going to just give away their turf. Try and match sizes as close as possible, or just introduce them all at once. The scuffles will settle once they divide up the tank.

They're such funny little guys- one minute, one gourami will be chasing another, the next, all four will be in one corner staring at me while I eat lunch. They also jump and dig quite a bit. Sooo much fun to watch.

I want some croaking gouramis, but all I can find are the "dwarf croaking gourami" (trichopsis pumilus). Anyone know where to find them online?

Same here. Does anyone in the area of St. Louis, MO. know where to purchase some female dwarfs in the area?
