So I've been told that Dwarf Rainbows might not be happy in a standard 20 gallon. So I'm wondering now about putting some dwarf gouramis in with my neon tetras.

Any thoughts on this pairing? I have 10 neons - how many gouramis would work? Also, should I get boys and girls?

should be good. i used to have two gouramis in with my neons, and they got along fine. another good tank mate are emerald cory cats. in my expierence the gourami does not eat the food that has fallen onto the ground. they will eat it as it floats, but when it hits the ground it won't touch it, so some cory cats may be a good choice also.

good luck

What about a honey gourami? it's a little smaller, and more peacefull in my exp.
Not to mention that they are Suuper-Cute!... I have one in my tank, he looks so happy swimming from one side to the other, he never gets tired. If he ever slows down, I know that there is something wrong in the tank. I love the little guy!

Thanks everyone! It sounds like gouramis are the better choice. The honeys are really cute, but I must admit my partner is pretty attached to the look of the dwarf gouramis over the honeys...

my gouramis (2 pair) are all over the bottom, once the upper levels are cleaned. They push my cories out of the way for food. While fights don't break out...there is a bit of bully action that happens when the bigger Gouramis head down to their level.
