Granular Food vs Flake Food

I've always used flake food and various frozen foods for my fish but last week I saw a can of "slow sinking" granular fish food. I decided to try it out. The second they hit the water however, they sink straight to the bottom. Now my fish are ravenous so will consume most of it before it touches the bottom and the food that makes it down doesn't stay there long. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion was on granular food.

Just for kicks I've included a couple photos of the tank. 55 gallon.

I sometimes feed granules. Fish seem to like them. I think "slow-sinking" is relative. Some of them sink faster than others & some never get the chance before being eaten.

I read this on the internet somewhere (great credibility, I know) granular food holds nutrients better than flake food does. With that said though, I feed a mixture of both.

I prefer sinking foods, means the fish can feed at the natural level in the tank and not have to come to the surface. Also with granular foods I can soak it in vitamin solution or medicine if necessary.

The Veggie wafers are also a favorite of not just mbuna but Haps and even loaches, guppies, etc.
