Grass growing out of rocks, wood

This is interesting. I'm not sure what it is. Looks like tiny tufts of grass growing out of the crevices of rocks and the wood I have in my tank. It's short, less than half inch or 1cm so far. I'd say it's algae but it doesn't look like anything I've seen before. It's straight, relatively firm looking tiny blades of grass, almost a little spiky. Will try to take a picture. Weird and interesting.
 
:perv: I actually like some algae. I have some that looks like moss on cork bark. My garras like it too, so it's not out of control, just a patina.
