Is it possible to do sand and gravel bottom? I was just wondering if you had to go all gravel or all sand? My 29gal tank is now empty because i moved the residents into there new home in my 75 gal tank.

I was cleaning out the tank entirely because the water and gravel was absoluting filthy. The 2 fish i had in there were pushing the filter to its limit. Glad they are finally outta that tank now they look happy as all can be crusing the seaworld tank lol.

right now i have Penguin Bio Wheel 330 and a undergroud filter in my 29 gal tank. If you can do a half gravel half sand mix should i keep my underground filter in? Or is that a no no with sand? If i shouldent mix the 2 i owuld like to go all sand bottom, because ive never done sand bottom before allways gravel. "i know the about the gaspockets so i would release them during tank maintnence. Just seeing what you knowledgable people have to say on the matter. And anything else i would need to know on doing a sand bottom.

I have a tank with sand and gravel. I don't have an undergravel filter however, I'm not sure sand would be the best choice for that. Make sure you rinse the sand very well before adding it to the tank, I had a cloudy tank for a time because I failed to rinse completely. I don't have my gravel mixed with the sand, rather just scattered on the surface of the sand... Have fun with your scaping! Let us know how it turns out :)

yeah i was planning on going half the tank sand and the other hald gravel. Almost like if they swim over they are in a different enviroment. Yeah no way im mixing the the 2 together would jsut look wierd to me lol
