Green Algae on the Glass

Ok I have green algae growing on my class in patches, its not really out of hand but its growing. Its not green hair algae either just green algae. I only use RO water and I do regular water changes. Also my nitrate levels are good and I also have snails in my tank with plenty of circulation. Any suggestions?

Tank is 4 Months old
45 Gallon Pentagon
40lb of Live Rock
Metal Hailde(8 Hours a Day)
Reef Tank

Possibly, cyano. What are your water parameters? I know you said that your nitrates were fine. Do you have any fish in there? Cyano is usually the result of excess phosphates. Newly cycled tanks will usually go through a cyano phase. Do you have different types of snails in there? Different snails eat different algae. Might need more snails. Need more frequent water changes to get the nutrients that are feeding the algae out of the tank.
 
Well, just re-iterating what Magpen said really...Can you run your water tests and post the results here please..How often and how much on the water changes, What cleanup crew do you use tank wide?

I simply clear off any algae on the tank glass with a magnet cleaner..As a matter of course, i clean mine everyday, takes about 2 to 3 mins...which is nothing really...

Post the answers to what me and Magpen have asked and take it from there..

Its my nitrates, I tested them earlier this week and they were fine and I tested them today and they are bad. I guess its water changes and a sponge for me.
 
Algae will grow, not much you can do about it except keep nitrates low, add some plants, and het a magnetic algae scraper. The scraper is so easy. Also, Otocinclus and Rubbernose Plecs eliminated a lot of my algae problems.
 
I appreciate all the help guys but I am not quite sure I know what Otocinclus and Rubbernose Plecs is. Can you please explain? Is there a particular type of phosphate remover you would reccomend.

Plecos in a SW tank? :D

You could try Phos Guard? But the best option is to use RO water.

I'd just do water changes man to get them back in line. You should get an algae one of the mags to algae happens lol ;) Yes, plecos are f.w. they wouldn't last 5 mins in your tank;) snails are the way to go.
