i've got some lime-green algae that looks just like purple coralline algae except green. is this good or bad? i see signs of purple going throughout my tank but my tank has only be cycled for about 1.5 months is this expected?

Coraline algae comes in various different colours which depend on lighting and the tank parameters..It can green, pink, purple, red amongst others..

Yeah, I got the same thing. In my tank it is definately green coralline. I thought I was having a problem with an algea bloom, but my clean-up crew would not touch it. Just went over it but never pulled it up. Then it started growing on my glass, and I needed a metal scraper to get it off. Although I would like purple coralline, the green looks good too.
I have that green color in my tanks too. I happen to like it...of course, green is my favorite color.

different types of coraline algaes grow under different lights. Your Green coraline usually grows under high lighting while your pink will grow under a lower lighting. As Niko said there are all kinds of different colors of Coraline algaes however it is really rare to get more than 2 colors in one tank.

to the point where a while ago i banned myself from buying green corals... cause that was pretty much all i had. lol
I'm starting to have a Green algae grow over my red-ish brown algea, I am only in my 2nd week of cycling and I decided to cut the lights because i was told i do not need them while cycling. Could i be because a difference of lighting? or is it just natural? It doesn't come to me as Coraline algae for that only comes later in the cycle? I'm not sure, please help.

yup i have green coralline as well. i like the color mixed with the purple and pink.
coralline will usually come later in the set up after the cycle. needs calcium in the 400's and typically shoes up between 6-8 months.
