hi, i have had a green terror in my 30 gallon tank for a year now with a few other fish and it is at a size of 5.5-6 inches. He is one of my most dominant fishes in my tank. Latley, I have been trying to introduce new cichlids to my tank, but nothing is working out (They are all being eaten). Right now i have a Texan about 4 inches in there who is thrashed pretty bad. what should i do?

Hey. My neigbor has the same problem. From his standpoint, there is nothing he can put in, (and he has a good 50 Gallon,) that won't be eaten. Looks like you can do a few things. A) Sell the Texan, B) Sell the Green Terror to your LFS, or C) Leave the Green Terror in there by himself. Finally, you have option D) Pay me $20 to kick your Green Terror's (behind) and put him in his place.

Try adding a MALE jack dempsy of the same size.
My green terror and jack dempsy get along fine and I added the jack dempsy 3 years after I added the green terror.
The only problem is that the tank is a little too small.
Mine are in a 45 gallon.

Yes,

Damn green terrors can be a pain. here are a few that could hold there own. Green terrors grow to 9 inches on the average and Jack Dempsey's grow big!

Jaguar +++
black belt cichlid(Cichlasoma Maculicauda) Nice fish...

adding anything to that tank is not a good idea. 30 gal is too small for a green terror. you should either buy it a bigger tank or trade it in on something more suited for a 30 gal tank.

I couldn't agree more. I stated this before when this was posted the first time.

A 30 gal is to small for a GT. Why add anything more when the current tank is not big enough? If you are wanting to keep this GT then you need to buy a bigger tank,

Ditto, Tyler. I find that you can't add anything to the tank if you have a male GT period. You may be able to add another fish with a male GT, in another tank if you put up a partition and let the GT get used to another fish, but in general, you won't be able to add anything else to a tank with a GT.
Get a larger tank and add a couple more fish to the new tank (after it cycles) at the same time as the GT and you may be more successful and your GT healthier.
