Does anyone know around what size or age does a Green Terror's hump start to grow? I know its the males that grow the hump. My GT's about 4 inches long. I am pretty sure its a male, but can't be positive. I've had him since he has been 2.5 inches about 6 months ago.

There isn't a guarantee that all GT's will develop a hump. It's basically a gamble when purchasing juvies.

I've seen some small 3" fish already showing humps, I've seen adult GT's with no hump...

I've read about GT's developing humps in tanks with other cichlids as a sign of dominance, and then loose it after they were seperated.

So, if your fish is going to develop a hump, around 7" is a safe guesstimate, but remember, your fish just may not get one.

i also 2nd this statement.

it is possible for females to produce a sort of bump there also. cause i have a female that is prolly 6inches, and has a nice female hump. appears to be "hard head" and not a "water head". it's never went bigger or smaller. in almost 4years since i've had her.

The one in my avator is 9 1/2-10 inches now and he doesnt have much of a bump. I picked him as a juv for his color so I dont mind at all.
