Green Terror Hybrid?

Is there a type of cichlid that a GT can cross breed with? Anyway, a guy here at work has a fish and 55gal tank he wants to sell, and he said he bought it about a year or so ago and was told the fish is a hybrid, but he doesn't remember what else it was crossed with.

I'm going by his house this evening and will get a picture and I'll post it. I may take the fish and not the tank.

Maybe it's mixed with a Blue Acara. They are very similar species.

Here's that cichlid photo

Like I said long ago, I'm not a cichlid guy. I've had 4 oscars, 1 JD and my 1 GT I own now in my 30 plus years in the hobby.
I can see a little similarity in this fish and my GT, but I don't know what it is exactly. Anyone?

If you notice a few nicks in his side, it's because he had been in the tank with another cichlid but he wound up killing the other one. They said that's why they're getting rid of him, they can't keep anything with it.

I may have to buy the tank and all if I take him.

Definately not a GT looks like it could be a Vieja.

Looks like a Texas Cichlid to me or some type of Herichthys.

I showed the photo to another co-worker who is into cichlids, and he said he thinks it's a Texas, too. If so, how much would be a good price to offer him? He's about 7 to 8 inches long.

Hmmm.....I'm not sure. Fish go for different prices depending on what area of the country you are from and how available they are. I personally wouldn't pay much more than $20 bucks for it around here.

I just walked over to his office and offered him 125 for the entire set up including the fish. He said okay, so I'll pick it up after work. I really don't need another 55gal, so I guess I'll re-sale it on craig's or something. I have an 60gal running that I'll put him in by himself. I may try putting him into that 180 with the TFB's and my green terror. I can always move him out if it doesn't work.
