Growing plants on driftwood

Looks like some species of Anubis growing on that particular piece in the photo. To attach Anubis to driftwood: Condition the wood so you know it's safe for the tank and sinks. Then, drill a hole through the wood that's slightly larger than the "root" structure of the plant. Stick the root in the hole, and tie it gentley to the wood with some sewing thread. In time the plant will anchor it's self to the wood.

Perfect, thanks alot for your help and quick response.
Considering you are the Landscaper Extraordinaire, I would love to see a pic of your tank.

Cheers

Drilling a hole sounds like a great idea! I never thought of that. Trying to tie down plants with thread is a pain and usually doesn't work out too well for me. I've been using plant anchors to hold my plants in place on the driftwood until the roots attach themselves.

Drilling holes work great, i got driftwood that looks like its being wraped in grapevine (all natrual) and i tuck my anubias in the vines.

I dont know if you can see it in the pic.

But yeah, anubias nana, best plant next to the amazon sword and lance bulbs imo.

Wow skeletonhand what a gorgeous tank, very impressive. I can only aspire to have such a setup. Thanks again for your advice. Any suggestions on species that would do well using this drilling technique?

Thanks for the compliments guys. I have some Anubis nana mounted in a piece of driftwood. If you click on the pic to enlarge it, you can see it better. It's under the Amazon sword on the right side.

Yes the grass like plant on the left is sag. I think it's dwarf sag, but when I thinned it out the other day, I had some plants that were over a foot tall.
