Hello all, can anyone identify this growth on my Tiger Oscar's lip? I'm enclosing a picture . It doesn't seem to be hurting her but it does seem to be growing.

I know oscars often have a little bump on there lip and its totally normal but not sure why your one is red? Keep an eye on it and make sure it does not get infected(if it is open).

It doesn't look to be infected and it's not bothering her. I'll give it another week to see if it changes.

I've had many Oscars and one thing you can always count on is they are always bumping, raming, or subbing on something. Sometimes out of frustration, sometimes out of aggression, and sometimes because they just get bored. As they do these things sometimes they just get nicked up like kids playing in a school yard. Keep an eye on it. If its just the one sore it will probably heal on its own. If you see more sores of the same type, then there is something else going on. Your Oscar looks otherwise healthy, so I would guess its nothing serious.

^ I agree - looks like a healthy fish. Probably just tagged itself on some piece of decor. Melafix is great for the bumps and bruises. I'll bet it will resolve pretty quickly anyway given excellent water conditions.
