grrr

Maybe but I still don't really understand what I am doing an I have spent $140 now on this crap ($10 of which was refunded by the bakpak seller) and I still have no idea what I am doing or whether it will work.

Yeah but what about the "inflow" part of the maxijet? How do I get air mixing in?
Didn't the maxi-jet come with a venturi adapter for the output? It should look like a little extension tube that slides onto the output and it has a little hole on the top of the tube. Attach the air hose to the little hole at the top and the water flow will suck some air into the water output.

It came with something you described but it connects to the.... other adjustable directiony output thing. And it has two little bumps, one on each side, on one end which snap into the... other output thing. It won't fit in the input tube, and if I use it in the output, it doesn't connect to the skimmer intake.

Yeah, now that I'm home and looking at one of my maxi-jets, I do see that the extension tube is a different size than the regular output nozzle (looks like it's 5/8" rather than the 1/2" on the output). I'm not familiar at all with the Bakpak skimmer and how it connects, but can you get a small section of 1/2" ID tube, connect one end to the end of the venturi extension tube and the other end to the skimmer intake? I just tried it and I was able to get 1/2" ID tube over the extension tube part with the little bumps on the end (it took a little work but I did get it on, and it certainly does seem like a secure fit once it's on).

I'm slightly confused, but on all my Maxi-jet run skimmers there is a little "basket" type attachment that accepts an airline. This device is on the intake, not after. It is important that the bubbles get broken up by the impeller to insure a small bubble size. In fact you can do a needle wheel mod with a small bioball that works pretty good too.

I got some "basket type" things but none of them accept airlines as far as I can tell.
