i caught my car on fire.
i was driving to petsmart, down a busy 6 lane highway. as i entered the left-turn lane, the care stalled. i was like "Oh cr@p" cause i thought it was overheating, because that's what my last car did. so i thought if i could get it into a parkinglot, i could let it cool off for a while and pour some coolant or water or something into it and get home where i could have hubby take a closer look at it. so i start it back up and get it to the head of the turn lane and it stalls again. so i'm sitting there with it turned off, waiting for the light to turn green, and it does and i try to start it again and then smoke starts coming out, and it starts filling the cab, and the hood is turning brown, so i jump out cause its hard to breathe and these guys come running out of nowhere with a fire extinguisher and get the hood open and there's FLAMES pouring out of it and they blast the fire extinguisher on it. somebody called 911 and the fire dept. got there and got the fire out.
so then the cops came and took a report, called a tow truck. and i told them i didn't have insurance, which is like a $500 fine. but the cop was really cool and said he wasn't going to write me a ticket because he figured losing my car was enough for one day, lol.
so yeah, i'm ok, and my parents are going to let me buy their old car for $300, which is a good deal because all it needs is a new starter that my husband knows how to install himself, and its got new pumps, good tires, good breaks, etc. i will post pics of the car tomorrow so you can see the bubbly, melted hood and all the cables and plastic melted under the hood. fun!
