Well my female guppy is getting fater every day. I just hope Im around to get to the fry before the tankmates do. So how long does the labor last for the guppies. Does she give birth to them all in a short period of time, or does she give birth to a few here and a few alittle later until shes done?

She'll have one baby every few minutes (the last time I watched, it was about every 4-5 minutes). The total length, of course, will depend on how many fry there are. An older 'experienced' female can have upwards of 30 fry, so you can see that could take hours.

If you have lots of bushy plants, many more fry will survive.

It will usually take a couple of hours for her to have all the babies. Make sure there is lots of floating plants (like anachris or hornwort) and the babies can hide in there until you can rescue them.
