I'm new at the whole breeding thing.I got one of those double breeding traps and put two guppies i that had a big gravid spot. That was yesterday, now today there is no babies in the tap and the black spot is gone.
Does that mean they aborte there regnancy? And if so how come?
I did a water change before i put them in if that makes a difference.

She probably ate the babies.

I've got 3 females in a 10 gallon that all looked VERY pregnant a while back, but I never saw a single fry, and none of them are big anymore. I'm not sure what happened with them either - perhaps they dropped the fry and ate all of them, or perhaps they didn't give birth at all. Not sure if it's possible for them to re-absorb the fry at that stage or not? I'll be intersted to see if anyone else comes along with thoughts on this. I know stress can sometimes cause them to hold fry and not drop them, which could be an issue in your case with the breeder trap, as that sometimes can stress them out. But I'm not sure what would have caused it in the 10 gallon as nothing changed and they're still happy/healthy/eating well, etc.

Goofy fish.

Maybe one of them's a doctor and they performed an expert abortion for the other

Great, now I have the mental image of guppies playing with coat hangers...

HAHA coat hangers!!!!!!!!Thats one way to keep guppy popuation in control just add coat hangers!!!!!!
I know they were pretty freaked out just trying to get them into the trap so maybe it was stress.
So the next question is if they aborted where do they go?Do they get pooped out or just dissolve inside them?

I doubt they get dissolved haha. Maybe they had the eggs and you just cant see them easily

Well, guppies have live fry, so they def didn't lay eggs ;). It IS possible for livebearers to self abort and reabsorb the fry if they get stressed out, or to deliver dead fry. The may have eaten them though...being that guppies give birth to freely swimming fry, Im not sure the trap would have kept them away from their mothers mouth. Was the fish actually showing signs of labor when you moved her or just had the gravid spot? Because a LOT of live bearers have that spot all the time fromt he time they are a sexable size, and it doesn't mean they are about to give birth. Either way, better luck next time.
