Heya all were fairly new to the guppy scene. We currently have like 7 guppys, 1 swordtail, 5 neon tetras, 2 (whiskery bottom feeders, albinos) and another algae eater. We lucked out and had 8 baby guppy frys they r so cute.
they live in a 10 gal tank no salt or heater...we were thinking about buying a heater but wasn't sure we should yet seeing as guppys seem to be doing ok. My main question and concern is everytime i buy the fancy males that seem really colorful they die off. Other males i have not so colorful seem to do better. When it comes to guppys is there a trick i need to know to keep those really fancy males alive should i add salt and heater or what plz lemme know.

hello, are all of those fish in the 10 gallon or just the fry? if they are all in there you may have an overcrowding problem. (guppies can hold sperm packets for up to 6 months so expect more fry!) as long as your room isnt too cold you shouldent need a heater, though you may want to invest in a cheap tank thermometer, I like the ones that stick to the outsode of the tank personally. the fancy males may be dying off due to poor genes which may make them look nice but arent very hardy, some suppliers inbreed to enhance a lines color traits, but that can producemore harm then good if done too often. try swiching suppliers and see if they have better stock.

I hope all this helps and congrats on the babies!!!!!
