Day 1
A New Summer Project! I was to see the true reproductive cababilities of the common, Guppy. This experiment will be done to see how long it will take for 2 Pregnant Fancy Guppies to give enough babies, and enough survive to start it's own colony. I think this is a pretty interesting thing to do! Ever since I got my new guppy stock last August, starting with 3 young males(one being an endler), and 4 young females(one being endler hybrid) of regular mixed strain, pet store-type fancy grade guppies. They started off in a 10g and it is now almost a year later, and I have a booming colony of guppies endler hybrids in a 29g. This sprung my interest to see, how fast these fish can produce for themselves. So, here is what I am starting with. . .
In a standard 10g aquarium. . .

In a standard 10g aquarium. . .
Equipment (1) 5-15 Whisper Interal Filter
(1) 50WT All-Glass Aquarium Heater ; Set at 79F
(1) Standard Hood with Light Bulb in (came with the tank)
Decor (1) Foux Plastic Sword Plant
(1) Ruins Castle
1'' Layer of Natural Brown/Tan Gravel
Inhabitants (2) Pregnant Female Guppies(possible Endler Hybrids)
(A lot) Red,Brown,Pink,Leopard Ramshorn Snails
(A few) Malaysian Trumpet Snails
(Small Clump) Java Moss
THE PLAN
My plan is to introduce the 2 guppies into the tank, acclimated properly. Once acclimated, I will take note on the fishs' belly size, to try to determine time of pregnancy. Once they birth, I am going to let nature take it's corse, as I will not interfear with anything. Whichever babies survive, so-be-it. This will ensure only the healthiest babies move on to start the colony. Also, how many pregnancies the females will carry out without a male, since they can store the male's sperm
mg:. They will have this batch and it will be some time until the babies are developed enough to mate with the others. That will also be interesting! I will take notes (on here) after births, baby growth and hopefully, I will get to add some pictures soon!
I will definately keep you guys updated and give me feedback on what you think about this experiment!
