Over the last few days ive noticed one of my guppys back has become bent, shaped almost like a camel is the best way i can describe it. Its not as active anymore and seems to float near the top of the tank and seems unsocial with the other guppys. It also has become very pale and is almost white now from its usual yellow.

Anyone know what the cause is?

Could be genetic or could be fish TB (which is transimissible to humans- might want to google it). Could also be a nutrient difficiency.

I've seen several people on the forum report this in their guppies- and genetics seem to be a common reason why Guppies get this... from all the in-breeding.

Use caution just on the off chance it is TB.

I agree. I've had both danios and corys show the same bent spine and since I've yet to contract the signs of fish TB, always chalked it up to genetics. However, there was one point when my corys were significantly underfed and it was much more noticeable.

Many Danios and Rasbora get bent spines when they get old... or so I've read.

There was one person on here selectively breeding Guppies and ended up with a batch where every single one of the fry developed bent spines. I think Guppies have just been so selectively bred for so long they're prone to genetic problems.

It sounds to me like your guppy needs to be put down.

This is common in old age, more-so in females. I suggest euthanasia or move her to a tank of her own to finish out her days. They generally will expire within 2-3 months of on-set. If (when) she no longer eats its time to do a clove oil bath.
