Hey aLl,

Im sorry if this is a repetative question, but I've noticed some weird "hair like" green algae in my established 21 g freshwater tank. THere are no live plants, The tank is not overstocked and i have two ottos in there, but I am probably guilty of overfeeding. I plan to cut down on food and do (even more) frequent water changes, but I was wondering if there are any small algae eaters who could help control the problem??

thanks

not much eats it supposedly except i guess the SAE which will prob get to big for 21g - amano shrimp are the others i have heard eat it but you will need wuite a few but they are suppose to do a nice job - ottos won't touch it - i'm having the same problem a little bit

Recently there has been a lot of good reaction to using Flourish Excel(a carbon source) to rid tanks of various hair algae including Black Beard Algae.
If it were my tank I'd try that and see how it worked for me. I've heard many good things about it's effectiveness.
Please respond with your results so we can benefit from your experience.
