Well I posted pics of my tank in the general forum and got on to questions about my hairgrass.

As you can see I have a big clump in the middle there, whats the best way to make it fill in more?? I would like to hav the whole left side filled in after removing those java ferns and rocks (I want a grass plain effect) Should I seperate it some more? Or Buy some more? Or just leave it and be patient? :)

you can get more if you want to expedite the process, but working with what you currently have, i would just distribute them evenly, and let nature takes its course. just take the grouped bunch and redistribute them into many smaller strands, then fall them in evenly throughout where you want them to cover. in time they will grow and spread out nicely.

I agree with Skittyfish. I was deliberating on four different kinds of "grassy plain" foreground fillers. After seeing your pics, I think I will go with the Dwarf Hairgrass.
BTW, how many watts/G and what is the distance from the light to the substrate?

I have been growing a dwarf hairgrass "only" 10G tank for about 4 months now. There is some hygrophilia difformis in there also. I plan to remove it if the tank ever settles in with the hairgrass. It is filling nicely however I get dark algae, not sure what kind, on some of the 'grass.
I'm not quite sure how to deal with this though. I have an SAE and 1 amano shrimp... I can never keep shrimp alive and I tire of buying them all the time. The hairgrass grows quickly after it is established but still not as fast as other plants. I run CO2 and dose nutrients. I apologize for the crappy pics, I dropped my camera and it doesn't perform it's best anymore.

I only have 40w for my 55g Tank, I only just built a hood for it and am planning to one day put some better lighting in, but it seems to be growing fine at the moment.

From the light to the substrate its about 43cm, probably the reason the grass hasn't spread out more.

Looking at it closely there are however a fair few new shots coming up (about 2cm high).

Oh and I also went to the place where I got it from but the had none on hand!! :( Its only $4.90AU for a fair bit of it!!

Godslayer: My tank looks similar with the single rock. Your pics aren't bad :)

Flohrie: My situation with light etc. is about the same as yours so that is encouraging for me.
