I have searched a few places regarding halogen lighting and aquariums only to find nothing of value. What I am considering is the halogen puck lighting, 3 above my 40 gallon with a few low light plants and a couple of goldfish (currently cycling). I'm not sure what I'll put in after the cycle is completed, maybe a couple of chiclids. Does halogen light put out the proper light for plants? I currently have a grow light above the aquarium, but due to the small space above the aquarium it does not fit right. I have the 40 on a cabinet beside my custom built entertainment center with a cabinet above it and only about 2.5" of space for a light. I can easily fit the halogen pucks under the cabinet and have enough room for heat disspation, they will also be on a GFCI with a 1/4" plate glass between the water surface and lights. Any thoughts? I may just need to move the wall cabinets up about 6" and offset them from the center cabinet which contains the tv, although this will throw off the dart board in the cabinet at the opposite side.
