My mother was born and raised in Scotland, but her family emigrated there from Ireland in the 1800s.

So, my daughter and I have a ball on St. Paddy's Day :)

This morning she went to school wearing her (Mac)Duff kilt, a white scarf covered with shamrocks worn over the shoulder and under the arm as a tartan sash would be -- pinned with a flashing button that says "Kiss Me, I'm Irish". She also had a green hairband covered with shamrocks and beads, a pin with a leprachaun on it and a shamrock necklace. We even sprayed her bangs with sparkly green hair spray.

She looked lovely and very Kelly green :)

She said, "If anyone asks if I'm really Irish, I'm giong to tell them that I'm Deirdre, the Lady of Sorrows and the Queen of Ireland."

Heh. Yes, her name is Deirdre. Her brother's name is Connor and Connor was Deirdre's father in the old legend.

I'd invite the lephrauchans, but .....being it's their big day, they're out celebrating....I guess they're intitled once in awhile... :rolleyes:
 
I would love to enjoy today, I even got off work early. But I got off early cuz I gotta get up at 3:00 in the AM to drive to Oregon so I can work all blasted weekend. I am allowing myself ONE mickeys grenade in celabration (Ok I know its not really from Ireland, but the name fits and its green and on sale for the holliday). and Ill be in bed by 8:00, as long as all the sirens and music dont keep me up.
