I did another test of the water last night, this time I also checked the water hardness and pH (just curious). Found out that we have very hard water at this point in time (never been a problem before). So my questions is will this be a long time problem for my fish (gourami, tetras, danio, bala, pleco and platys).

We had always had pretty normal water no too soft not to hard. But apparently something has changed. We noticed it when our dishwasher started going nuts on us. This water test just confirme it. ph was 7.4 (i think) the remaining results were 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 10-15 nitrate. Temp stays at just smidge under 80 degrees (heater is set to be at 78.? degrees... not sure what is heating the water to 80). Thanks for your ibnput.

my opinion....you have absolutely nothing to worry about with the water hardness or the slight temp difference between the thermometer and the heater....

how hard is your water? i add 12 drops before my water changes color
I regularly have to add 14-16 drops... I've tested off the API chart before.
