I know that this type of plant gets pretty big so I was wondering if anyone has tried using it in their planted tank?

Apongoton?

Not tried it yet... but I'm about to try it in the Paludarium I'm building... purchased the bulbs today.

I've got some of the lily bulbs growing in the community tank and they look great!

I have some dwarf lilly and various apongotons in my 20 gallon. They do great in 1.8 watts/gallon lighting and only trace ferts. The trick is in getting them to sprout for you. That is hit and miss.

Most plants do better with high tech systems so I imagine bulb plants would as well. They do tend to die back periodically so that is a disadvantage. I would be inclined to exploit the extra lighting and CO2 and go with more desirable plants.
I have an apongoton that sends all its dozens of leaves to the surface. It's great for my gouramis but may be ragged looking if you are going for an aesthetic look.
