Has any one used Pentair filters?

Hey All,
I was getting ready to set up a new tank (150 gal) and was wondering if any body has used the Pentair modular filters and if they were any good. If not what would be the best set up for a heavely planted 150 gal tank.
The thing is this tank has been sitting there for awhile not set up, and all of a sudden my wife wants me to have it set up by turkey day. I told her I could just put pictures of finding Nemo and have a salt water tank.:D She said that a real tank would be better, which is funny because she has no interest in my tanks, so I guess this is kind of cool.
Anyways what would be the best filtration setup.

they probably suck never heard of them. just get an ehiem, fluval or filstar.
 
I've never heard of the Pentair filters before. In fact, I've never even heard of Pentair before. What is it about these filters that appeals to you? Unless there's some really outstanding feature that suits your needs, I would stick with the tried and true. What if the Pentair breaks down in a year? Will the company still be around to honour its warranty? Or will you even be able to find replacement parts?

Case in point: a number of years ago, there was a company called Renaissance that tried it's hand at making a line of power filters (called Bravo) and cannister filters. Well, they went out of business (I think. I haven't seen any Reaissance products in ages), or at the very least, they stopped making their filters. People who bought these filters no longer have customer support.

Stick with Eheim, Fluvals, Filstar, or Marineland.
