At work I came across clear pvc piping. You can get it up to 12 inch diameter. I was thinking it would be really cool to have a fish tank that winds around your house. It would be pretty simple to support the pipe. Keeping the sides clean would be the hard part though! You could actually connect two tanks with the pipe if they are the same height. The options are endless! But you better be rich....it's not cheap.

Do they make that stuff in 5/8" ID ??? I REALLY need some that size.

Way back in the 70's they had tanks connected with clear pipes. Kinda gimicky if you ask me but I'm sure you can make an impressive tank with that stuff.

Being made out of round pipe, wouldnt it cause some pretty severe distortion? I would think it wouldnt be too pleasing to the eye. Cool idea in principle though.

it would be near impossible to make a tank solely out of pvc piping. There would be almost no oxygen transfer. As for connecting 2 or more tanks, the clear pvc works wonderfully.

and how would you clean out the pipework when covered in algae and poo?

I like the idea but that thought alone puts me off!

Never say never... all it takes is one person to find a way..... and often times, its something simple that would most likely be overlooked.
